The Visionaries Leading Innovation

Global AI Systems Engineering

Forged by an Elite Advisory Collective

About Us

Headquartered in Singapore, Smart X Pte Ltd is a high-impact artificial intelligence software engineering firm. We are not a conventional vendor. We are a deliberately assembled, borderless collective of world-class technical talent united by a singular mission: to engineer AI systems that are robust, auditable, and adaptive within complex production environments.

Our Core Domain

We focus exclusively on mission-critical AI applications: intelligent process automation, predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and decision intelligence. Unlike off-the-shelf solutions, our platforms are architected for interpretability, ultra-low latency, and seamless integration into enterprise and industrial technology stacks.

Our Elite Technical Collective

Smart X functions as a center of excellence without geographical boundaries. Our team comprises software architects, machine learning researchers, and systems engineers from North America, Europe, and Asia. Each member is a proven expert in specialized domains such as distributed learning, probabilistic programming, and real-time optimization. This diversity ensures we never deliver narrow, locally optimal solutions — only globally validated engineering.

Senior Advisors: Rob and Hua Wei

The company’s strategic technical direction is guided by two distinguished senior advisors:

Rob – Senior Advisor, AI Systems Architecture.

Rob possesses deep expertise in high-performance distributed systems, edge-native AI, and fault-tolerant design. He advises on core engine architecture, ensuring that every Smart X deployment achieves scalability, resilience, and operational predictability under real-world constraints.

Hua Wei – Senior Advisor, Cognitive Algorithms and Data Synthesis.

Hua Wei specializes in unsupervised representation learning, multimodal fusion, and explainable AI. He guides the team in algorithmic innovation — from reducing false positives in anomaly detection to constructing auditable decision pathways for regulated industries.

Together, Rob and Hua Wei provide strategic oversight, technical mentorship, and rigorous validation of our engineering roadmap. Their involvement guarantees that Smart X remains at the frontier of reliable, responsible, and high-stakes AI.

Our Commitment

We adhere to international data governance standards (ISO/IEC 27001) and AI trustworthiness frameworks (IEEE P7000 series). Every solution is stress-tested, bias-audited, and fully documented for complete transparency.

ROB – SENIOR ADVISOR

Trained as a scientist, in molecular and cell biology, and genetics, obtaining his PhD at Edinburgh University.

He spent time at University College London and the Institute of Neurology researching signal transduction in cell development, discovering novel pathways involved in neural development and cancer.

He worked for GSK in the area of preclinical target development, and has published over 40 scientific papers and book chapters, as well as presenting seminars at numerous international conferences.

He worked in Guy’s Hospital developing cutting-edge cellular and genetic prenatal diagnostic methods. He was also a senior scientist at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Singapore.

He helped develop several incubation and spin-off companies in the UK as well as in Singapore, and obtained an MBA at Imperial College. While in Singapore he was a founding member of Exploit Technologies and the Industry Development Group of A*STAR (Agency for Science Technology and Research) and helped build the business development function at the Genome Institute of Singapore.

More recently he has acted as principal consultant for several biotechnology and diagnostics companies; consulted for investment groups; developed a marketing strategy using big data analysis for the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors; and consulted for the National University Hospital Singapore on matters of intellectual property, clinical trials and global alliances.

He is currently a partner at CEC that acts as an advisory for the life-science and clean technology sectors.

Areas of experience:

Incubation and spin-out experience for companies from the UK: UCL (cannabinoid pathway dissection for therapeutic use); Oxford University (genetic ancestry); Imperial College (T cells for cancer therapy); Guy’s Hospital (prenatal testing from maternal blood).

Incubation and spin-out experience in Singapore including in areas of genetic pathogen testing, personal genomics; cancer diagnostics; human tissue culture  for skin product testing.
